These projects were selected within a public call, conducted from 20 January to 13 March 2020, which aims to contribute to youth employment and social inclusion of vulnerable and marginalized groups by improving the business environment by making local businesses more sustainable and competitive.
Seven projects that will contribute to the employment of 82 young persons in Serbia, through the improvement of the business environment in lesser developed areas, are supported by the Kingdom of Norway with 510,000 euros through the project "Norway for you - Serbia".
These projects were selected within a public call, conducted from 20 January to 13 March 2020, which aims to contribute to youth employment and social inclusion of vulnerable and marginalized groups by improving the business environment by making local businesses more sustainable and competitive, employing more young people through support provided by organizations. All activities of these projects will be implemented by September 2021.
“High youth unemployment reduces social cohesion in society, encourages emigration flows outside Serbia, but also within the country, from rural to urban areas, leaving some parts of the country without any possibility for growth and development. That is why I am glad that we can contribute to the employment of people from underdeveloped areas, especially youth and those that are in vulnerable groups, because only through improving their employability, through improving their status in the labor market we can improve their living standard. One of the main priorities of the Embassy of Norway is economic development of Serbia that is rooted in innovation and job creation”, said Norwegian Ambassador to Serbia Jørn Eugene Gjelstad.
The selected projects will support small and medium enterprises in the areas of food production, agriculture, metallurgy and tourism through the procurement of equipment and services, training, introduction of certificates, which will improve their competitiveness and enable the creation of 82 new jobs.
"During the public call, we received more than 40 applications from various organizations that provide business support, and funding was approved for the best proposals that will bring concrete benefits in lesser developed parts of Serbia. The value of the support of the Kingdom of Norway is from 35,000 to 90,000 Euros per project", said the a.i. Project Manager "Norway for you - Serbia" Milica Došenović.
