Better Conditions for the Education of 300 Students in Bela Crkva with the Support of Norway

The elementary school building was built in 1896, it is protected as a cultural monument, and it had various purposes before it was given the purpose of an educational institution in the 1940s.

The Kingdom of Norway, through the project "Norway for you - Serbia", supported the renovation of the facade of the elementary school "Dositej Obradović" in Bela Crkva and equipping the IT classroom with 70,000 Euros.

The Mayor of Bela Crkva Violeta Simić and the Deputy Ambassador of Norway Geir Håkon Johansen visited this primary school institution today, where the works were carried out within the project completed last year. The elementary school building was built in 1896, it is protected as a cultural monument, and it had various purposes before it was given the purpose of an educational institution in the 1940s. The works carried out in 2019 included the restoration of the drawn wreaths and the facade, as well as the replacement of the gutters.

"With the support of the Kingdom of Norway, we managed to reconstruct the facade of the school, which is part of the protected city center, and now, after the works, it looks like when it was built. In addition, some 300 children have better conditions for education," the Mayor of Bela Crkva Violeta Simić.

In addition to the works, the school computer room was equipped with new computers, desks and chairs, which improved the conditions for teaching. Thanks to this project, the working and educational conditions of about 300 students and teachers of this school have been improved.

"I am glad that the support of the Kingdom of Norway gives concrete and tangible results, through projects like this one. Together, we have managed to create a safer and more productive environment for students in Bela Crkva, as well as the preconditions for modern information education, which is the basis for the future of children," the Deputy Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway Geir Håkon Johansen said.
