The energy efficiency of the Cultural Center "Dragan Kecman" in Kučevo was improved with the support of the Kingdom of Norway through the project "Norway for you - Serbia".
Works on the facility, built in the 1990s, included the repair of the flat roof, replacement of joinery, reconstruction of the boiler room and installation of a fire alarm system. Thus, the working and living conditions of 230 beneficiaries of the cultural center, ten library workers, 120 members of three folklore ensembles, 30 members of the choir and 30 members of the art club have been improved, but also almost 15,000 citizens of Kucevo for whom this is a key cultural building.
"The Kingdom of Norway helped us to improve the energy efficiency of the Cultural Center, and this support is highly important to us. The stay in the facility has now been improved for all citizens who use it for various cultural activities, and we will utilise all the savings for further maintenance of the Centre," the Mayor of Kučevo Ivan Rajičić said.
The total value of the works was around 110,000 Euros, of which the Kingdom of Norway earmarked around 100,000 Euros, and the Municipality of Kučevo co-funded with around 10,000.
"The support of the Kingdom of Norway will contribute to a significant reduction in heating costs, and the savings will be used to finance activities related to culture, in order to improve the quality of cultural life in Kučevo. In addition, the installation of a fire alarm system has increased the safety of the building, beneficiaries and visitors", "Norway for you - Serbia" Project Manager a.i. Milica Došenović said.
As part of the application of the good governance principles, which are implemented in cooperation with the Swiss PRO Programme, the Municipality of Kučevo decided to use the funds obtained from energy efficiency savings for regular maintenance and modernization of facilities, as well as improvement of existing and development of new content which will be selected by citizens through a survey.
